I was raised in upstate NY in a small town called Gloversville. Although my parents were divorced, they both encouraged me to try new things, challenge myself, be honest, work hard and have fun along the way. They both appreciated nature, sports, family, and friends.
I grew up very active participating in soccer, basketball, golf and skiing in high school. I received a golf scholarship to University of North Carolina at Wilmington my senior year. I played golf for four years for the Seahawks and was captain and MVP for 3 years. I graduated with a BA in Physical Education and upon graduation, I moved to Pinehurst, NC to hone my golf game and skills for the professional level.
I turned professional in 1999 and competed four years playing on the European Tour, South African Tour, and Futures Tour here in the US. During those four years I felt great and was on cloud nine! I was chasing my dream, traveling the world and was privileged to work with cutting edge mental and performance coaches like David L. Cook, Ph.D, Dr. Dick Coop, and Farid Guerda, Vijay Singh’s swing coach.
Upon completing my professional golfing career, I moved to Portland, OR where I struggled with my identity, self-esteem, and my future career. This wasn’t a fun time for me as I was putting on weight and felt lost in life. I felt like I was coasting, I lost track of fitness, nutrition, and overall wellbeing, the very things that allowed me to be and feel my best a few years earlier.
I met my husband in 2002 on tour and moved to Morgantown, WV in 2005. Anthony and I got married in 2007. During this period we were active and the weight and happiness were easy to manage. After settling into marriage and a new town, the cycle crept back in, the weight came on and the career issue never really dissipated. I took a few classes here and there; I worked a few part time jobs, but wasn’t really fulfilled. I did discover that I loved teaching and coaching when I was the golf coach for Trinity Christian School for 3 years. We won the school it's first state title as the State Class A Team Champions and we also had the individual medalist on our team. During the three years I coached, we made states each year and the team drastically improved their scoring, attitude, and love of the game. I knew in my heart that teaching and coaching was for me.
In Sept of 2011 I was a bridesmaid for a great friend in Oregon. I was so embarrassed when I went to pick out my dress. I was the largest I’d ever been at 203 pounds! How could that have happened to a professional athlete? I knew this HAD TO STOP! I tried restriction, I tried a personal trainer, read diet books and then it happened. On Jan 4th 2012 my husband and I watched the documentary “Forks Over Knives” and that was the spark that lead me to get serious about my health and began the journey towards the career I LOVE- Holistic HEALTH COACHING!
Who I am Today:
I’m happily married to an amazing man, I have a talented stepson Anthony and a loving cat named Smokie. I'm an avid traveler and have been to 49 states and 27 countries. I enjoy yoga, meditation, foraging for wild edibles and I'm an organic gardener. I love sports and my husband and I enjoy cross country and alpine skiing, fly and deep-sea fishing (catch and release), archery, playing golf and mountain biking. I love preparing healthy meals, juicing, dehydrating, listening to music and socializing.
I’m committed to continuing my studies in a variety of holistic and nutritional aspects. I LOVE working with individuals, couples, groups and businesses to improve their health and wellbeing. I believe we NEED to be PROACTIVE and partner together to help ourselves, communities and nation get out of the outrageous healthcare costs that negatively impact us all. I think everyone can benefit from a little more motivation and support to reach our goals, stabilize our growing medical debt and protect the future generations from the unnecessary chronic illnesses and suffering that is rampant today.
